Forty years ago, Astronaut Owen Garriott, callsign W5LFL, pioneered amateur radio communication from space from the Space Shuttle Columbia. A 40th Anniversary Conference - Celebrating the Positive Impact of Amateur Radio on Human Spaceflight, was held in February 2024 at the Center for Space Education at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Center in Florida.
