Hurricane Milton
https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/ ... orm-milton
As tropical storm Milton, soon to be hurricane Milton, heads towards Florida, now is the time to finalize our preparations.
After ensuring that you and your family are prepared and have the supplies needed, we turn our focus to our neighbors.
Fortunately, at this time, Milton is not headed directly to our area. That could change. During my time in South Florida, I have seen more than one hurricane drastically change direction, including making an entire loop. In 2004, Jeanne was heading directly North of Hispaniola, made a right-hand turn, then did a 270 degree loop and headed directly east to hit Florida. Even if Milton doesn't come close to our area, we may be affected by serious weather conditions, including winds, rain, flooding and tornadoes.
If you need to evacuate, now is the time. Do not wait for the last minute.

Monitoring the Hurricane Watch Net (14.325 MHz). Someone is whistling while net control is gathering check-ins and information.
Sometimes, someone will tune up on frequency. That could be innocent - given the vagarities of propagation, they may not hear the net participants.
However, to randomly whistle? That's intentional interference, and to do so in the middle of a net which is focused on health and welfare traffic is unconscionable.

It's a shame, Brent. As Ron White says, “You can't fix stupid.”
My HF antenna is down. The UHF/VHF remains deployed.
We should do updates here for anyone wishing to post anything relevant to Milton.

Re: Hurricane Milton
Is anyone able to clearly hear the local NWS station (KEC50 162.475)?
I had it loud and clear earlier today, but it's spotty now, as though the transmitter is using lower power or the antenna was damaged. I've tried multiple radios with the same result.

During the evening I could not reach NWS on my HT, which I'm always able to get at least one station, sometimes more. I did not check on my base antenna.

The SARnet gods have just released the network back to amateur operators for regular use.
