There were some names here that I had long forgotten, not the least of which was Sansui. It's sad, but there are lessons here.

Things change, and not always for the better. Sad.
As a side note, I met Mr. Marantz once in Forest Hills, Queens, NY. He was selling his home. It was the late 1980s. Nice guy. Apparently, he was still playing around with electronics. He had a little workshop in his basement.

It's pretty neat when you get to meet industry leaders, especially the esoteric ones. That's how I felt when I met Les Paul. He lived not far from me.
I remember Marantz of the seventies and their 2200 series receivers. They look really good and sounded the same. That was a mainstream line for them, but still beyond my teenage budget. I am surprised there was no mention of Akai reel-to-reels.
