the Broward County ARES/RACES Statewide Simulated Emergency Test (SET). It is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM Eastern Time.
Included Frequencies-
Participants are instructed to program the following frequencies into their radios prior to the exercise:
• 146.610 MHz (PL 110.9) – Gold Coast Amateur Radio Association '61 repeater (Primary Check-in)
• 146.550 MHz – Simplex
• 147.210 MHz (PL 131.8) – Repeater
Participant Functions & Objectives-
Once initial check-ins are completed on the primary repeater, net control will provide instructions regarding a simulated disaster scenario.
Participants will specifically be asked to perform the following tasks:
• Gather and report tactical information based on the specific communications objectives delivered during the briefing.
• Test equipment readiness and practice standard emergency operating procedures.
• Identify coverage and communication gaps across different frequencies and modes.
• Demonstrate effective communication capabilities simulating a complete loss of normal, commercial infrastructure.
