Good Evening Everyone,

On Saturday April 22, starting at 9:00am Palm Beach County ARES will participate in the statewide SET.  The simulated exercise is called, “Service DENIED” and will simulate a statewide cyber-attack impacting the communications and electrical infrastructure.    This type of event, unlike a hurricane, can truly strike with no warning.  The SET is being vague to help simulate a failing infrastructure.  Paper and pen will be a good idea to have to take notes.

Attached you will find several PDF files and links that will help with the SET.  Also is a link to our worksheet so you can sign up so I can assign tasks.  Please take a minute to update your info if you volunteered for the earlier SET and add your info if you are planning to help on Saturday.  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Everyone will need to start monitoring our Primary frequency of 147.045 starting around 8:45’ish Saturday morning.  Please note the simplex frequencies on the SOP sheet.  Some hints would be to monitor the national simplex frequencies, but also be able to monitor the three simplex frequencies for Palm Beach County ARES.  Once the exercise starts, REMEMBER to end the transmission with “THIS IS AN EXERCISE”. 

Two frequencies that are not currently on the SOP are HF frequencies to monitor 3.940 and 7.242

Please take a few minutes and make sure your antennas, power outage methods, and radios are ready. 

NOTE : During the exercise I will make an announcement that the .045 repeater has failed.  From that moment on I will continue to monitor that frequency as an ADMINISTRATIVE frequency only.  If you are really struggling, and need a hint on what to do, please reach out to me on the frequency.  Please understand that I may not be able to respond due to other tasks that will be playing out.

If for any reason, we need to end the exercise we are all to meet back at the .045 repeater for instructions.  So, try to monitor this frequency for any major instructions.
