Amateur Radio and Information Radio will merge at the same venue in Central Florida. HamCation will utilize licensed, low power "HamCation Information Station - AM610" as a new tool to push information out to attendees’ to include, traffic, weather info, parking and event details, as they approach the event.
The City of Orlando is bracing to handle the influx of nearly 25,000 faithful “HAM” radio operators – increasing its population for the weekend. In addition, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), HAM radio’s national association, will have its North Florida Section convention going on there simultaneously this year. Due to construction of Interstate 4 and many surface streets that serves the Central Florida Fairgrounds and Expo Center – Helping the inbound find our parking lots is one of the key goals of the radio service.
The AM610 signal will be heard roughly 5-10 miles from the Central Florida Fairgrounds, directing approaching attendees to parking facilities. It is being provided as a service to HamCation by Information Station Specialists (theRADIOsource.com) of Zeeland, Michigan, which, this year, will utilize a newly designed, high efficiency/high capacity antenna to transmit the information signal. The HPR.0990 High-Performance AM Antenna and “RadioSTAT” portable transmitter system will be operated from and available for inspection at Booth 48 during the event.
