USS MIDWAY Museum radio team at NI6IW will be on-the-air on Saturday the 13th of January from 0900 to 1600 PDT

CQCQCQ ... to all HAM Operators!
The USS MIDWAY Museum radio team at NI6IW will be on-the-air on Saturday the 13th of January from 0900 to 1600 PDT, highlighting the last MIG of the Vietnam war shot down by a Midway F-4 (1/12/73).
USS MIDWAY NI6IW will be operating on or near its normal HF frequencies of 7.250 MHz LSB, 14.320 MHz USB, and “070” PSK31 including CW during the 0800 (PST) hour. Due to propagations, Midway may shift to other bands to make QSO's. Please check spotting networks for the most current information. NI6IW also will be operating VHF/UHF specifically seeking contacts within the PAPA System SOCAL area on PAPA repeaters.
Dstar operations will shift to the flight deck since our UHF/VHF antenna is unavailable due to the refurbishing of the main mast. This mode of operations will continue till June 2024, in which the refurbishing will be completed.
Also on Saturday January 13th (times PDT), NI6IW will be operating Analog FM D-STAR REF012A.
Morning hours 0900-1000
Afternoon hours 1300-1400.
At other times during the day expect to find us on DSTAR (various reflectors). If you miss us on REF012A please check https://www.dstarusers.org/ for our call NI6IW and "Reporting Node" to see what other DSTAR Reflector we may be using and catch up with us there.

As a sponsored visitor (and yes you many bring a guest) you’ll get FREE admission for the entire day the ship is open and an opportunity to operate with us.

I have visited the USS Midway in San Diego and it is impressive. Try as I might, I have yet to make contact with the special event station from here even with CW! I’ll give it the ol’ college try again this Saturday at 11:00 EST (8:00 PST) hunting around 7.050 & 14.050 MHz with my 100W and G5RV Jr. Wish me luck. Who knows? I might make contact with a veteran Leatherneck sparky in the Radio Room who can pull my signal out of the static. Semper Fi!
