World Baseball Classic

Post by Michael M »

I decided to turn this humor-only Forum into the Water Cooler!

This is a place where folks can discuss anything they want, humor, sports, current events (no politics), other hobbies, basically anything that doesn't fit into our current categories.

If you've been following the World Baseball Classic, you know that the US has made it to the semifinals, and tonight is a big game against the Dominican Republic. If you haven't been following and you enjoy baseball, now is a good time to start! Tomorrow Venezuela will be playing Italy. Both games are being televised on FS1 at 20:00 hours local time.

Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Japan were the teams that concerned me. The DR took care of Japan last night. Adios Ohtani and Yamamoto! If we win tonight, we will face either Venezuela or Italy. The latter has been a bit of a cinderella story and beat us this season.

Go USA!

What a game! It was an exhausting emotional roller coaster, not without moments of controversy, but not enough for me to embrace ABC. Tomorrow will tell us who will be playing against the USA for the World Baseball Classic Championship. Go Team USA!

In other news, the Yankees are in 5th place in the Cactus League at .591. Not over 600, but good enough to be ahead of Boston!

Why is tonight's game a must watch?

Post by Michael M »

Why is tonight's game a must watch even for folks who aren't big Baseball fans?

Okay, tonight is the night many have been waiting for, Team USA versus Venezuela for the Championship. 20:00 on Fox. If you miss tonight's game you're going to have to wait another 4 years, until 2030, and the mathematical probability of the United States being in that final game is small. The next one after that is 2034.The more you do the math, the more important tonight's game is to watch!

Honestly, I don't think these ticket prices are out of line. A thousand bucks on the third baseline to watch Team USA play in the final championship is more reasonable to me than the price of a World Series game and far less than the four to seven times that you would pay for a Super Bowl game. C20 would be great seats. Sure it's not on the USA side, but I have always preferred that seating, regardless of the team or sun. It's a better view of the infield, and here it's a lot less than the first baseline!

Or… watch it at home for free!
