We will be having our monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. As always, I am excited to see everyone and talk about our upcoming Saturday in the Park on May 27th, which coincides with the National Hurricane Center’s On-the-Air Annual Communications Test. This is the opportunity to prepare your equipment and communication skills for the upcoming season. There will be no program this month because we will be discussing what we’re doing for Field Day in June, which will occur before next month’s meeting. This is where you will get filled in on the what, when, and where of 2023 Field Day.
And as I’ve always said, “If we’re not having fun in what we do, we’re not doing it right.” With that, we’re going to have a little fun involving one of our own, so you don’t want to miss this meeting!

I am equally excited to introduce to you this month’s guest speaker and his presentation.
Mark Wohlschlegel, WC3W, will be our guest speaker at our monthly meeting, March 22, 2023, at the Cox Science Center. Mark has been a ham for 60 years, lives in Palm Beach Gardens, and has recently taken over the CQ DX Marathon Program as of the first of the year. He would like to share with our club some of the details of the program and how simple it is to participate. Over the last two years, the DX Marathon Program has been the fastest growing DX Program in the world! In 2022, it grew +46% over the same period last year. As always, it was great seeing everyone. At each meeting we always miss a couple of different faces, so we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting! Visitors are always welcome!
It was a great meeting, and with the participation and ideas of our members, we got a lot done, including a new monthly activity for the spring.
Ed (WX2R) provided an informative and impressive presentation. He really understands marketing and the dynamics of this industry. Thanks, Ed!
No, this isn’t Chicago’s hit in the ’70s. Due in part to the success of our picnic, we’ve got a new activity that’s going to begin next month – “Saturday in the Park.” It will be the Saturday that follows our Wednesday monthly meeting, so next month that’s going to be February 25th at 10:00 a.m.
While the weather is cool, this will be a monthly, informal get-together that will include radio work for those who are interested. All are invited. We are also going to coordinate this with our sister club, the Fair Lawn Amateur Radio Club (FLARC), in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, to make HF contacts up there.
Bring food, drink and snacks for yourself, and anything you may like to share, and radio gear if you’d like to participate.

We’re going to coordinate getting together while we’re up there, and there was some talk of doing POTA activations on the way back. I’m setting up a topic in our WPBARG Forum for additional discussion and coordination.

There is no meeting in December. Our next meeting will be January 25th. Before that, on January 21, we have our picnic, which starts at 10:00 a.m. We will be posting directions in our WPBARG Forum.
Do you have portable gear? Bring it! It’s going to be a picnic and a Run What You Brung!
In addition to the picnic, we’re going to have some portable fun. Don’t have any portable gear? No problem… we share! Come on out, have some fun, and maybe get some ideas if you’re thinking of building your own go box, or share your ideas with others who may be considering building theirs.
As announced at last month’s meeting and posted to our Forum, due to the holiday, November’s meeting will be on the 16th.
