Category: Announcements
We don’t usually make announcements for our Tuesday Net; however, our net controller for this coming Tuesday, Jeff – KM4UBL, tells me he’s got something special planned. I even don’t know what it is, so we will have to tune in to find out!
For more information on the Net and the Repeater, go here – The AREC Repeater Group, Inc.
If you enjoy using this repeater, please consider supporting it by joining. And for those who already have, thank you. We can’t do it without you!
This is a once a year event and we will begin setting up Saturday morning, June 24th, and continuing through Sunday afternoon, June 25th, at American Legion Post 47. We will be posting more specific times and directions, so stay tuned!
Our resident satellite expert, Ed (KN4ZAA), has volunteered to assist others in working the birds. Working satellites is a rewarding challenge, and I can’t think of anyone better than Ed to assist people in making their first contact, and getting folks who have made contacts better and more comfortable in satellite work. This is a great opportunity! For more information or to open a conversation with Ed, click this link – Field Day Satellite opps – WPBARG Forums
In addition to satellite work, we will be working different modes on different bands on a variety of equipment. We will have equipment for you to use or you can bring your own. This is a great opportunity to have some fun, meet some great people, and hone your skills! Or join us just to see what this is all about. We will have other experienced operators there to help you get started or learn more about what we do.
As with every event we sponsor, everyone is invited… members, non-members, participants and observers, come one, come all!
As you know, we lost one of our own. Kevin’s family will be conducting a sale of Kevin’s equipment, and the proceeds of that will be going to two worthy recipients – South Florida National Cemetery and Wreaths Across America. Both of these are veteran organizations and close to Kevin’s heart. Kevin was a member of Squadron 47, Florida Detachment of the Sons of the American Legion, and supported our veteran community.

Silent Key announcement is here – Silent Key – KM4RYN – West Palm Beach Amateur Radio Group, Inc.
While the circumstances that precipitated this were tragic, it was really nice to spend time with everyone and remembering Kevin. For more information on this, click here – Kevin’s WPBARG HAM Yard Sale – 06/03/2023 – WPBARG Forums
Now is the opportunity to sit for your technician or upgrade your current license.

Testing begins at 10:00 a.m. When you get to the front door let them know you are here for the amateur radio exam and they will get you to our room. Below is an ARRL link on what to bring Saturday.

This week in ARRL Club News:
On May 27th, we will be having our monthly “Saturday in the Park”.
The month’s event coincides with the National Hurricane Center’s On-the-Air Annual Communications Test. This is the opportunity to come on out and prepare your equipment and communication skills for the upcoming season. More information on that can be found here – Test your station before hurricane season begins! – WPBARG Forums
This will be our last Saturday in the Park until the fall, so be sure to clear your calendar and come on out!
Set-up starts at 10:00 a.m. Some folks like to get there a little earlier, and we run till we’re done, usually around 2:00 or so.
Directions can be found here – Saturday in The Park & Directions – WPBARG Forums
As always, everyone is invited… members, non-members, participants and observers, come one, come all!

We will be having our monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. As always, I am excited to see everyone and talk about our upcoming Saturday in the Park on May 27th, which coincides with the National Hurricane Center’s On-the-Air Annual Communications Test. There will be no program this month because we will be discussing what we’re doing for Field Day in June, which will occur before next month’s meeting. This is where you will get filled in on the what, when, and where of 2023 Field Day.
And as I’ve always said, “If we’re not having fun in what we do, we’re not doing it right.” With that, we’re going to have a little fun involving one of our own, so you don’t want to miss this meeting!
We welcome all to our meetings and activities, whether licensed or not!

Note: There will be a celebration of life on June 10th. For more information click here.
It is with great sadness I make this announcement of the passing of one of our own.
Late last night, Kevin (KM4RYN) became a silent key.
Kevin touched so many lives. He will be remembered and missed by many. We will dedicate tomorrow’s meeting to him, and we will be suspending the business portion of our monthly meeting tomorrow, replacing it with a remembrance of Kevin. It will be a celebration of his life, and the lives that he touched. Everyone who wishes to say something in memory of Kevin will have an opportunity.
If you wish to write something, you may do it here, and when we have the arrangements, we will post it here – Kevin’s Passing – WPBARG Forums
Kevin’s obituary is at the AllCounty funeral home Click Here
This is where you can share a memory of Kevin. If you are so inclined, it would be nice to list memories of Kevin.
On behalf of the West Palm Beach Amateur Radio Group, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
